Fatal Wreck Victim Identified

Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Lieutenant Roger Dittberner has identified 40 year old Christie Gean Cadona as one of the three victims killed in yesterday´s fatal head-on on Highway 108 west of Jamestown.

The names of the other two fatal victims, one a Tuolumne County resident, the other a 22 year old Stockton man, are still being withheld until the Coroner´s Office notifies their families. Cadona was driving a Toyota Wagon westbound on the busy highway when her vehicle was struck head-on by a Honda Accord approaching from the other direction. Lisa Degitz was a passenger in the Toyota and survived the wreck with major injuries. She is recovering at a Modesto hospital. CHP Officer Tom Wills says the accident happened when the driver of the Honda went onto the shoulder of the roadway, over-corrected and crossed over into the path of oncoming traffic. The twisted wreckage closed the highway in both directions for about 2 hours. Motorists were detoured onto Highway 49 and Highway 120 until the scene was cleared. Wills says investigators believe the driver of the Honda may have been speeding when the accident occurred.
