Fatal Crash In Calaveras County Kills Stockton Woman

A fatal accident in Calaveras County claimed the life of a 61-year old Stockton woman last night.

San Andreas Based CHP Officer Bryan Duquesnel says 66-year old Harley Shields was travelling northbound in a Saturn sedan on Silver Rapids Road with one passenger . The car was approaching Highway-26 at about 6:35. A Jeep Cherokee driven by 42-year old Camille Davis was headed westbound on the highway approaching Silver Rapids Road at the same time. Duquesnel says Deshields failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of the two roadways and the Jeep T-boned the Saturn. The name of the woman killed in the crash is being withheld pending notification of her family. Deshields suffered major injuries and was taken to Memorial Hospital in Modesto. Davis and two teen passengers in the jeep suffered minor injuries, were treated at the hospital and released. The wreck slowed traffic down on Highway 26 for several hours. The crash was the first fatal accident on Calaveras County roads this year.
