More details are coming out today about the arrest of the woman who claimed to have found a finger in her bowl of Wendy´s chili last month.
Anna Ayala was arrested at her Las Vegas home last night on suspicion of grand larceny and attempted grand larceny.
San Jose police now say the attempted grand larceny charge is related to the Wendy´s incident.
Authorities say the found finger appears to be part of an elaborate hoax. Ayala told police she found the finger on March 22nd while eating in a Wendy´s restaurant in San Jose.
She claimed she was going to sue, but changed her mind later and said the publicity was too emotionally taxing.
Police say the grand larceny charge is unrelated to the Wendy´s episode. That charge has to do with an alleged unlawful home purchase transaction.
Wendy´s announced yesterday it had ended its internal investigation, saying it could find no credible link between the finger and the restaurant chain.
Police say the true victims here are Wendy´s operators and
employees.
