C.D.F. Burning Restrictions Lifted

Sonora, CA — Due to wet weather and cooler temperatures, the C.D.F.-Fire Protection Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit has lifted the restricted burn hours to “open hours” effective Wednesday, November 15 at 8am.

C.D.F. Unit Chief Mike Noonan reminds Mother Lode residents that burn permits are still required until the end of the declared fire season. Burning is only allowed on permissive burn days as declared by the local Air Pollution Control District.

Noonan urges local residents to still use caution and abide by all fire safety conditions on their burn permit. Permitees who allow their fires to escape are liable for criminal citation and payment of suppression costs.

For burn day information, call the following numbers: Tuolumne County (533-5598), Calaveras County (754-6600) and the Copperopolis area (785-7664).
