Playing With Matches Causes Grass Fire

Valley Springs, CA — Playing with fire is being blamed for a half-acre grass fire in Rancho Calaveras Tuesday.

At 8 p.m. Tuesday, CDF crews were called to a fire at 8206 Orielly Street.

It took 3 hours to completely put out the flames.

Barbara George with CDF says there were no witnesses but personnel on the scene say there was evidence that led them to believe someone had been playing with matches.

Fire investigators found cigarette butts in the area, which leads them to believe it was probably teenagers.
