Mobile Home Residents Fight For Their Health

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Tamarron Mobile Estates located on Mono Way in Sonora has some angry residents.

The mobile home park, which is designated for residents 55 years of age or older, has had several issues residents want cleared up. Several letters have been written addressing the lack of attention the park is getting when it comes to a mobile home that caught fire in March and has yet to be towed away.

Yvonne Kennedy, a resident for four months, says the deteriorating home is creating many health hazards. Along with the hazard of the burnt home, Kennedy says she and her neighbors have had major problems with the water in the park.

During a one on one interview with KVML News, Kennedy presented a bottle of water she took from her kitchen faucet full of what she believes to be manganese, a metal that health officials believe can cause damage to the brain, liver and much more if large amounts are swallowed.

Kennedy has written an abundant amount of letters to the park owners and has spoken in front of the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors several times in an attempt to get the problems addressed. She says if she has to be the next Erin Brockovich, she is more than happy to take on the job.

Kennedy admits some actions have been taken to eliminate the hazards but she says it is not enough to eliminate the overwhelming number of problems occurring. KVML News attempted to contact the two owners of the property, however they were unavailable for comment.
