Calaveras Election Results

San Andreas, CA — It was a low voter turnout Tuesday night but nevertheless some key races were decided in Calaveras County.

With all of the precincts reporting, the unofficial results are as follows:

District 3 Supervisor Merita Callaway walked away with 56 percent of the vote meaning she earned enough stay in office another 4 years. District 3 covers Arnold and the Ebbetts Pass area.

In District 5 Supervisor Victoria Erickson was not as lucky. Her opponent Russ Thomas earned 41 percent, while Erickson received 36 percent. The two will have a runoff in November. District 5 includes Copperopolis, Rancho Calaveras and Jenny Lind.

9,000 of the 27,000 registered voters turned out to vote. This was also the debut of the new voting machines for Calaveras County. According to County Clerk Karen Varni things went smoothly for the first run.
