Sonora Pass Opens For 2006

Sonora, CA — It´s official, Sonora Pass on Highway 108 is open for the new year.
Caltrans Spokesman Bob Boswell reports the pass was opened this morning at nine o´clock. The opening will allow Mother Lode travelers to access Highway 395 to kick off the Memorial Day Weekend.
At two o´clock this afternoon, Caltrans reports that Ebbets Pass will open on Highway 4. Work on clearing these two passes commenced on April 17th.
The opening of Tioga Pass may occur in approximately three weeks.
