Robbery Follows Scam

Sonora, CA — A scam which resulted in a home invasion and robbery occured in Sonora this week.

Monday Shirley Wilder received a call from someone claiming to be a member of the Sonora Regional Medical Center Emergency Room staff. She was told that an elderly lady had been admitted without any personal identification but on her person she had one of Ms. Wilder´s business cards. The caller than asked Ms. Wilder if she could come to the hospital and possibly identify the woman.

Once at the hospital Ms. Wilder learned from the E.R. admitting staff that there was no unidentified elderly woman that needed to be identified.

Upon returning home Mrs. Wilder realized she had been robbed while at the hospital.

Ms. Wilder has filed a police report.
