Mother Lode Firefighters Fighting Zaca Fire

San Andreas, CA — CAL FIRE officials are reporting the human caused Santa Barbara County Zaca Fire has now burned close to 70,000 acres effective 8am today.

Full containment is not expected until one month from today.

CAL FIRE´s Barbara George in San Andreas says one engine strike team from the Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit is being utilized to fight that fire in southern California. That strike team consists of five engines, 20 personnel and one battalion chief. In addition there are four overhead assignments.

Overall there are 2,300 firefighters, 70 crews, 111 engines, four air tankers, 15 helicopters, 17 dozers and 29 water tenders battling this 68 percent contained fire that started on the fourth of July.

Total cost to date; $52.3 million.
