SRMC Announces Expansion Plans
Sonora, Ca — Sonora Regional Medical Center is quickly preparing for the changes that will come following the July 1 closure of acute care, ancillary care and clinic services at Tuolumne General Hospital.
SRMC has announced further details regarding the transition of health care services.
To minimize wait times in the Emergency Department and provide the appropriate level of care, SRMC is opening a second Prompt Care on the west side of Sonora at 193 S. Fairview Ln. Prompt Care Forest Road will be open 12 hours a day, seven days a week. Prompt Care Indian Rock, at 14540 Mono Way, is currently open seven days a week from 8am to 6pm.
A new rural health clinic, Forest Road Health and Wellness Center, will also open at 193 S. Fairview Ln. Services to be offered include: primary care, specialty care and dental care.
Cadar Road Family Medical Center will open at 20044 Cedar Rd. North in Sonora. It will replace the Mother Lode Medical Center at the same location. Current patients will be able to continue receiving their primary care there. The SRMC´s Job Care will be relocated to the Cedar Road Family Medical Center and combined with TGH´s existing occupational medicine practice.
To accommodate a large increase in ancillary services volume, such as laboratory and diagnostic imaging, new lab draw stations will be available in Angel´s Camp and at the Prompt Care Forest Road location.
The Sonora Regional Imaging Center will be opening this Fall at 12811 Covey Circle in Sonora, adding digital mammography, 64-slice CT, 1.5T open bore MRI, ultrasound and general x-ray. During the several month transition period, a mobile CT scanner will be added to the Medical Center campus to accommodate a large influx in additional patients.
SRMC feels that other acute services departments like surgery, med/surg and ICU should be able to accommodate the additional patient load with appropriate expansion of staffing. The Medical Center has 172 open positions. Julie Kline, Medical Center senior vice president for Patient Care says,We are working very hard to fill all of our open positions for the community. It is encouraging to already have received 319 applications from qualified local candidates. Our goal is to help keep our local health professionals in the community.”
Positions are available in almost every department of the hospital including: admitting, nursing, clinics, radiology, cardio-pulmonary, pharmacy, laboratory and rehabilitation therapy. Tuolumne General Hospital employees are given priority for available positions.
