Accused Manslaughter Suspect Released From Jail

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA — Anthony Mann, who stands accused of vehicular manslaughter, was released from jail last week on his own recognizance.

Court documents say in May 2004, Mann, who was 17 at the time, was driving drunk when his car left Blagen Road, hit a tree and overturned in a ditch. His brother Ernest and Steven Ferrari were in the car and both perished.

The Calaveras County District Attorney´s Office says Mann´s attorney requested his release and the judge went along with it. No bail was posted.

Mann, who is from Arnold, was tried for the crime, but the jury could not come to a unanimous decision on his verdict.

A trial setting conference for his retrial will be held at 9 a.m., June 4 in Department 1 of Calaveras County Superior Court.
