Mokelumne Hill Community To Look At Safety

Sponsored by:

Mokelumne Hill, CA — Residents in Mokelumne Hill are concerned about their safety involving drug transactions that are going down at the local cemeteries.

Supervisor Steve Wilensky, who represents the area, updated the Board of Supervisors about the situation Tuesday. He, along with the Sheriff´s Department will meet with the community to talk about what can be done.

Wilensky says possibly a neighborhood watch can be created. He says he will come back to the board on April 3 with a possible recommendation for resolution.

Sheriff Dennis Downum says in the last 14 months there have been 17 calls about incidents in areas around the cemetery.

Downum says the cemetery has historically been a place for kids to hang out but the methamphetamine problem has added a new dimension to the problem.
