Citrus Crop Loss To Exceed $800 Million

Sponsored by:

Sacramento, CA — According to the California Citrus Mutual losses to California citrus crops will be, at a minimum, $800 million.

At the same time there are pockets of citrus groves that have undamaged fruit. Farmers will pick and ship that fruit to market.

Due to the freezing temperatures the navel orange season which usually runs into June will come to a premature end this year. The Valencia orange crop has significant damage that won´t be revealed until it is ready for spring harvesting.

Growers and middlemen are in agreement; higher prices have already arrived at your local grocery store.
