Sierra Conservation Center To Return To Integrated Housing

Sponsored by:

Jamestown, CA — The 4,100 inmate Sierra Conservation Center, on orders from the Department of Corrections in Sacramento, will return to an integrated housing program effective tomorrow morning.

The new program, only initiated at S.C.C. and Mule State Prison at Ione, was in effect for only a couple of days when it was suddenly discontinued. No reason for that change has been released by officials.

Lt. Jimmy Hurtado confirms that prisoners have been made aware that the program will be restarted. As new inmates enter the prison they will be bunked on the first available beds regardless ethnicity.

When the program was initiated Level Two inmates protested by not eating breakfast and failing to report for work for three days. So far there has been no disturbance since the Monday announcement.
