Kleinerts To Be Honored At Joie de Vie Gala

Sonora, CA — Pete and Sue Kleinert of Sonora will be honored at the Eighth Joie de Vie Gala Sunday, October 26 at Ironstone Vineyards when they are presented with the Irving Symons Award for long-term, outstanding community service.

Both have been active in a variety of community activities during the almost 40 years that they have lived in Tuolumne County. They own Cutler Segerstrom Insurance Agency in Sonora.

Pete served as Council President of the Boy Scouts of America, president of the Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce, helped to organize and provided seed money for the First Economic Development Corporation, served as Board Chair of Sentinel Savings & Loan, has served on the Governing Board of Sonora Community Hospital and Sonora Regional Medical Center for more than 20 years, served on the hospital´s Capital Campaign Steering Committees for Cancer and Cardiac Care and for the Therapy Pool. In addition Pete served on the Sonora Pass Vacationland Board and chaired the Transportation Committee for the Sonora Bypass.

Sue has served the needs of others through her work at the hospital by working on seven out of eight and chairing two of the Joie de Vie Galas. She worked on the Medical Center´s Art Committee and helped to choose and display the art in the hospital today. Sue also worked on the hospital´s Capital Campaign for Cardiac and Cancer Care. She volunteered with the Muir Trail Girl Scout Council, and was president of the Mid-Valley Council of the Children´s Home Society. She served on the Board for six years and was president for two years of the Central Sierra Arts Council. Sue is a member of Omega Nu, the chair of the auction for the Foothill Farmlands Arts Festival and a volunteer with the Long-term Care Ombudsman Program.

The Irving Symons Award, named after the late Irving Symons, recognizes long-term, outstanding, community service. Former recipients include Irving Symons, Frank Salel, H. Randolph Holder, Robert Cutler and Pete Kerns.

In addition to the after-dinner entertainment by Le Jazz Hot, a silent auction featuring items such as art, dinners, services and vacation opportunities will be held to raise additional funds.

The more than $50,000 raised from the 2007 Joie de Vie Gala is assisting patients of the Sonora Regional Cancer Center with special individual needs. Funds from last year´s Gala have assisted cancer patients with personal needs such as childcare, transportation to treatment, house cleaning, household expenses and emergency medication.
