Groveland Hosts Saturday ’49 Festival

Groveland, CA — Absolutely perfect weather set the stage for the 2008 edition of the ´49 Festival Saturday.

Always a major highlight of the day-long event is the Annual Chili Cook-Off. The winners in this year´s 13th edition are as follows:

People´s Choice Chili with Beans: Groveland Hotel; Chef Greg´s Chili

People´s Choice Chili Without Beans – Buck Meadows Restaurant

People´s Choice Vegetarian Chili – Groveland Fire Department

Judges´ Choice Chili With Beans – ´49er Chili Leaders Of Good To Go

Judges´ Choice Chili Without Beans – Hotel Charlotte

Judges´ Choice Vegetarian Chili – Groveland Fire Department

Best Decorated Booth – Hotel Jeffery House On Fire Chili

According to Chili Cook-Off Chairman Tony Flores more than 3,000 Mother Lode residents turned out for the ´49er Festival. And according to the event´s General Chairman Jim Nagel there were 46 entries in the morning parade.
