Additional Meetings Scheduled On Motorized Travel Management Plan
Sonora, CA — Additional meetings are coming up for the community to learn more about the Stanislaus National Forest’s new Motorized Travel Management Plan that shows where vehicles will be allowed to travel in the Forest.
Cross-country travel will be prohibited, and the plan creates a designated system of roads and trails for people to recreate.
The Forest Service began the process of creating a Motorized Travel Plan due to the increasing amount of A.T.V.’s and other off-highway-vehicles utilizing the National Forests.
The plan adds 136 miles of existing unauthorized routes to the Forest trail system.
Travel off designated transportation roads will only be allowed if a permit has been issued (excludes snowmobiles).
Meetings are scheduled for January 6th, at 6pm in the Greeley Hill Community Club House in Greeley Hill, and January 7th at 6pm in the Independence Hall in Arnold.
Meetings were held December 3rd in Sonora and December 5th in Modesto.
