Fallon House Theater’s Immediate Future Unknown
The contract with concessionaire Forever Resorts and Columbia State Historic Park is set to expire on June 21st, but Sierra Repertory Theatre is still hoping that the Fallon House Theatre will remain open as a venue for live shows.
Sara Jones, Managing Director of Sierra Repertory Theatre, was Friday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
“The loss of Forever Resorts as a concessionaire is very unfortunate,” says Jones, “SRT has been working with the local state park office who has expressed their desire to keep the Fallon House Theatre in operation, and we believe that will be possible. We have historic ties to the Fallon House, and we will do everything we can to continue producing there.”
Forever Resorts has contract agreements for the Fallon House, Columbia City Hotel and Restaurant, What Cheer Saloon, Fallon Hotel, Jenny Lind Restaurant and Angelo’s Hall.
Jones hopes to have a draft contract for temporary management of the facility, within the next couple of weeks.
“Sisters of Swing: The Story of the Andrew Sisters” is scheduled to run through Sunday June 28th at the theater. Jones believes that the play will be allowed to complete its run, even if there is no draft contract agreement with the state.
An emergency town hall meeting on the immediate future of Columbia State Historic Park will take place on Wednesday June 17th at 7pm inside of Angelo’s Hall in Columbia.
The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
