Digital Mammography Unit Coming To MTSJH

San Andreas, CA — Within a year’s time Mark Twain-St. Joseph’s Hospital is expected to have a digital mammography unit in place.
According to Hospital Spokesperson Larry Cornish the $840,000 for the unit, construction and funding is being handled by the Hospital Foundation.
The system, which provides superior detection of breast cancer in women under the age of 50, is expected to be operational in approximately 10 months time. Cornish adds that still another unit will be placed in a facility along the Hwy 4 corridor.
Over 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the U.S. this year. An estimated 40,000 will die.
