Doolittle Keynotes TuCare Dinner

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Alliance For Resources and the Environment (TuCare) celebrated its 20th anniversary Saturday evening during its annual benefit dinner at the Sonora Elks Lodge.

Former Republican Congressman John Doolittle was the keynote speaker and praised the organization for the way it incorporates teaching children about natural resources.

“The spirit of this community is the spirit that built California and made it into the tremendous success that it once was, and hopefully what it will be again” says Doolittle. “Please keep up the efforts, because one person can make a difference.”

TuCare President Mike Albrecht presented the organization’s “Excellence in Government” award to Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors Chair Teri Murrison. The “Natural Resources Educator of the Year” award was handed to Glenn Gottschall, a TuCare Board member and retired Forest Service worker. The “Conservationist of the Year” was given to Bob Kinsinger, who allows Modesto Junior College to use a portion of his property for its timber and land management programs.

"Everything went even better than we hoped for tonight,” says Albrecht. “I think we had around 275 people here, and it was a wonderful crowd that represents everything TuCare stands for.”

Republican Assemblyman Tom Berryhill was attending his sixth TuCare dinner.

“It’s always a pleasure to get up here in Tuolumne County and say "hi" to the ‘real folks,’” says Berryhill. “If more communities were like this, this state would be better off.”

TuCare says its mission is to promote the wise use of natural resources.
