PG&E Warns About Imposters

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA – There has been multiple reports of imposters posing as PG&E workers across California.

Some imposters have been trying to gain entry into a household to steal from unsuspecting customers, while others warn that their service may be cut off if they fail to pay a past due bill over the phone with a credit card or checking account.

PG&E advises residents to always ask for identification before allowing a worker into the home. Customers that have a PG&E appointment will always receive an automated or personal call within 48 hours of the visit. Also PG&E will never ask for personal information or a credit card over the phone. Anyone that has received this type of call, and provided information, should contact their credit card company, bank and law enforcement. Customers with concerns about the legitimacy of a call they receive about a past due bill, a service request, or request for personal information can call 1-800-PGE-5000.
