Thunderstorms, Rain And Cooler Weather

Sponsored by:

Strong thunderstorms and scattered showers over the next several days will continue to usher in a temperature change in Northern California.

The periodic storms will last through at least Thursday and are capable of producing torrential downpours, small hail, gusty winds and frequent lightening, mostly over the Sierra Nevada.

Beginning Sunday night, temperatures throughout Northern California will fall significantly. High temperatures in the Motherlode will only be in the low to mid 70s for most of the work week.

The National Weather Service advises that the best chances of rain will be from Sunday afternoon into early Monday and again from Monday night into Tuesday.

There is a chance of snow above 7500 feet that could affect travel on Highway 120, Tioga Pass. Hkers and campers should prepare for unsettled weather and very cold conditions.
