Meet Emily Ebbett, the new Miss Tuolumne County.

Nineteen year old Ebbett was crowned as Miss Tuolumne County on Saturday August 14th. She was competing against three other ladies for the crown and title.

Ebbett was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

No relation to ‘Ebbett’s Pass’ on Highway 4, Ebbett is a native of Tuolumne County and attended Summerville High School before graduating early in 2007.

Ebbett is currently attending Columbia College where she is studying culinary arts. She is also a cook at Diamond Back Grill in Sonora and will soon be training others for the Diamond Back’s new ‘sister’ restaurant that will be located in Standard.

Ebbett has one older sister and an older brother who both live in northern California.

According to Ebbett, a five minute interview was worth the most points during the pagent. Ebbett also sang “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus during the talent portion.

The next public appearance for Miss Tuolumne County will be in Groveland for the ’49er Festival and Chili Cookoff’ in September.

The KVML “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
