B-C Combo Set For General Plan

Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA — By a unanimous Tuesday vote the five supervisors altered the growth pattern of Calaveras County.

The supervisors have decided to concentrate growth in cities and towns that have water, sewer and road infrastructure in place. This decision is a combination of land use alternatives B and C. Alternative B is based on a state projection that 24,000 people will be added to the county’s current population of 46,000 25 years from now. Alternative C has an estimate of an additional 36,000 moving into the county in that same time frame.

The General Plan is expected to completed by next year.

The greatest growth in recent years has been in the west end of the county in Districts One (Supervisor Gary Tofanelli) and Five (Russ Thomas) respectively.
