Cable Permits Almost Available

Yosemite National Park, CA — Effective Monday, March 1 cable permits for climbing Half Dome will be available.
According to Ranger Kari Cobb these permits (no charge) are only needed for those who plan the climb Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
Half Dome Cables Day Use Permits for May and June can be reserved by calling 1-877-444-6777 or click HALF DOME starting Monday at 7am (PST).
Permits are needed due to the increasing number of climbers. Two years ago on a Saturday of a holiday weekend between 1,000 and 1,200 climbers hikers sought the crest of Half Dome. Prior to that the daily average was only 400 climbers.
