Supervisors Could Appeal Forest Plan

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA – The Tuolumne County Supervisors will vote Tuesday whether to appeal Stanislaus National Forest Supervisor Susan Skalski’s Record of Decision on the Motorized Travel Management Environmental Impact Statement.

The plan designates where motorized vehicles are allowed to travel and recreate in the forest. The plan has drawn criticism at public meetings, as some outdoor enthusiasts say it goes too far, while environmental groups have stated it doesn’t go far enough. The new travel plan is set to take effect later in the year.

The Supervisors will also vote Tuesday whether to support a California Statewide Local Streets and Roads Needs Assessment, and send a letter of support for increased investment in transportation.

Tuesday’s meeting begins at 9am in the Board of Supervisors Chambers.
