Physician Faces Charges

Sonora, CA — A Sonora physician is accused of practicing medicine while intoxicated.
The Tuolumne County District Attorney’s Office confirms that Dr. Stacey L. Hoffmann faces nine misdemeanor charges of practicing medicine while under the influence and one count of possession of a controlled substance. Authorities believe Dr. Hoffmann was improperly prescribing medications for her own use.
The case was referred to the District Attorney’s Office by the State’s Medical Board, which had been conducting its own investigation. Dr. Hoffman was sent a letter from the D.A.’s Office last week asking her to contact the court and set up an arraignment date. Dr. Hoffman’s office is located at 183 Fairview Lane in Sonora.
