Motor Fire Burns 3,000 Acres
Mariposa County, CA– A fire near Yosemite National Park has now burned 3,000 acres.
Local CAL Fire units including Columbia air attack and crews from the Stanislaus National Forest continue to assist in battling this blaze. The Motor Fire is located half of a mile east of the south fork of the Merced River.
According to Forest officials, it is in very steep canyon slopes and has burned to the top of the ridges above the Merced River on both sides of the canyon.
Officials are still cautioning motorists to stay away from Hwy 140 heading to Yosemite National Park.
The fire started at around 12:30 pm Thursday after a motor home reportedly caught fire near Highway 140 and Incline Road.
