Stanislaus National Forest Office Hours Changing

Sonora, CA– Office hours at the Stanislaus National Forest have changed.


Starting today,  the Summit Ranger District Office at Pinecrest will be open 7 days a week through Saturday, September 10th, but closed Labor Day Monday. Office hours are 8 am to 5 pm. September 11th through the opening weekend of hunting season on September 17th, the office will be open 6 days a week, but closed Sundays. Office hours are from 8 am to 4:30 pm. September 18th the office will be open 5 days a week from 8 am to 4:30 pm and closed on weekends.


The Calaveras Ranger District Office on Highway 4 at Hathaway Pines will be open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, but will be closed on weekends and holidays. The Alpine Station Visitor Center on Highway 4 will be open today and tomorrow and over the Labor Day weekend of September 2, 3, 4 and 5. The Alpine Visitor Center will close for the season beginning September 6th.


The Groveland Ranger District Office on Highway 120 at Buck Meadows will be open 8 am to 4:30 pm on today, August 27th, but closed on Sunday, August 28th. Starting Monday, August 29th, the Groveland Ranger District Office will be open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm and closed on weekends and holidays.


With the exception of federally designated holidays such as Labor Day there will be no changes to the 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday hours of operation at the Forest Supervisor’s Office in Sonora or the Mi-Wok Ranger District Office in Mi-Wuk Village located on the lower Highway 108 corridor.


Forest visitors seeking fuel wood permits are advised to purchase them during the posted Forest Service office hours. Forest visitors needing a campfire permit (camping outside a developed campground area) must pick one up during posted Forest Service office hours or from a CDF Cal Fire office prior to lighting a campfire.


For weekend wilderness trips, visitors are advised to call the Forest Service office in advance to draft a permit over the phone and then obtain it from the after-hours pick-up box.
