Sonora, CA– A Coulterville man suffered moderate injuries in a vehicle accident on Highway 108 this morning.

According to the CHP, at around 7:30 am, 63-year-old William Walker was traveling eastbound on Highway 108 just west of the intersection with Washington Street and Lime Kiln Road.

“He was in the number two lane,” said CHP Officer Nick Norton.  “He proceeded to travel left across all lanes into the westbound traffic lanes, almost going head on with a few other vehicles.  He then collided with the three control boxes that control the lights and power and everything at that intersection. He went up the embankment and then came down and landed on his roof.  The accident knocked out three control boxes for the lights and power at the intersection.”

Walker was air-lifted to Doctor’s Medical Center in Modesto for injuries which included head and face lacerations.

The traffic signals were repaired at around 6 pm.
