Hanvelt Gets Board Approval Regarding JPA

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA– The Tuolumne County Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to give Supervisor Randy Hanvelt the authority to end affiliation with the Central Sierra Planning Council.

The multi-county joint powers authority primarily oversees federal subsidized low income housing. It also deals with allocating funds from things such as Community Development Block grants. It is made up of elected officials and citizens from Tuolumne County, Calaveras County, Angels Camp, Sonora, Amador County and Alpine County. Supervisor Randy Hanvelt is the representative from the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors.

In a previous Supervisors meeting last month, Hanvelt indicated that both the Central Sierra Planning Council and Economic Development District jpa’s mismanaged their finances over the course of recent years.

“It’s unfortunate that this agency has been a victim of financial mismanagement that has caused this to happen.” said Hanvelt. “All I’m really looking for today is your support for moving and voting in favor of dissolution of the Planning Council, not the Economic Development District at this time.”

Hanvelt will vote at the Central Sierra Planning Council board meeting tomorrow, June 15th in Angels Camp at 9:30 am.
