Human Trafficking/Slavery Discussion

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA– Soroptimist International of Twain Harte will be presenting an informative meeting to discuss a $38 billion business and the second largest form of commerce in the world.

Featured speaker, Ms. Nola Brantley will be talking about Human Trafficking/Slavery in cities, states, and throughout the world. The meeting will be March 23rd at the Sierra Bible Church in Sonora from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

“The human trafficking problem is not just far away and in different countries,” said  Soroptimist member Patt Koral. “It’s here and in the United States, and extremely high in California. It’s not necessarily documented because you can’t get someone to testify. There’s really nothing that can be done until we can bring it up, make everyone aware, and make it safe for these young ladies to come forward.”

Koral is also Vice Chair of  the Tuolumne County group, “Ending Human Trafficking Coalition of the Sierras.”

The upcoming meeting will be of a general nature and suitable for all ages. Also in attendance will be members of the The Sheriff’s Department and the Center for a Non-Violent Community.
