Election Day Arrives

Sonora, CA — Based on the vote by mail ballots already received, the Tuolumne County Elections Office is projecting a large turnout for today’s election.


The polls opened at 7am and will close at 8pm. At this morning’s Board of Supervisors meeting. County Clerk and Auditor-Controller Debi Russell-Bautista said her office has seen a stream of early voters over the past several days. If you have questions today about where your polling location is located, you are asked to contact the Elections Office at 533-5570.


Several local competitive races are on the ballot, including the Board of Supervisors, T.U.D., school board races and school bond measures. California voters will also decide the fate of 11 ballot propositions. Voters will decide whether to approve the Governor’s $6 billion tax proposal, new laws regarding genetically modified foods, and whether to abolish the death penalty. And of course, there’s the decision about who will be the President for the next four years.
