Man Shot Leaves Hospital

The whereabouts are unknown of a man that was shot in Arnold earlier this month.

25-year-old Jimmy Terry reportedly snuck out of a Modesto hospital. No charges had been formally filed against Terry while he was recuperating from injuries sustained in the incident. Jimmy was shot by his uncle, 36-year-old Robert Terry, during a dispute in Arnold on October 14th. Robert told officials that he was acting in self defense, and Jimmy was upset about Robert “ratting him out” regarding some thefts in the community. No charges were ever filed against Robert in connection to the shooting.

A detective called the hospital last week to interview Jimmy about the shooting, and the deputy received his account about what played out. A short time later, the hospital notified the Sheriff’s Office that Jimmy was missing. Sgt. Chris Hewitt says, “They said that Jimmy Terry asked to go outside to smoke a cigarette, and once he walked outside he left the hospital, and has not returned.”

Jimmy was arrested the morning of the October 14th shooting because he had a state parole violation. Jimmy received a reprieve though while he was recuperating, because he was listed as the victim of a gunshot wound.

“Prior to this incident, he had a parole hold on him, but when he was shot and taken to the hospital, the state lifted the parole hold,” explains Sgt. Hewitt. “That could change soon though, depending on how the state wants to proceed.”

Because of this technicality, currently Jimmy is not a “wanted” man. Also, no charges have been filed at this time related to any thefts or burglaries that Robert alleged were connected to Jimmy.
