Funds To Help Motorists Travel
Stockton – The California Transportation Commission approved 23 projects around the state costing nearly $287 million.
Some of that money will go to Amador, Calaveras and Tuolumne Counties. Those counties will get $146,000 to build pedestrian curb ramps for the disabled along Highway 12 and 49. The areas include Highway 12 and 26 junction, Highway 49 along parts of Mountain Ranch Road, Treat Avenue and Russell Road in Calaveras County and Highway 49 and Pesce Way in Tuolumne County. Caltrans says this will meet the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
Caltrans Director Malcolm Dougherty says “We are building transportation improvements that will benefit the state for decades and will also boost job growth in every region of California”.
Nearly $259 million of the funds come from Proposition 1B, a transportation bond approved by voters in 2006. Caltrans says a total $14.6 billion in Proposition 1B funds have been distributed statewide. They say the remaining $28 million is from state and federal funding.
Caltrans has no exact date of when the construction will start.
