Economic Report Submitted To Public

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The final “report card” on the status of economic development in Tuolumne County was submitted in a Professional Advisory Service (PAS) report today.

Tuolumne County Economic Development Director Larry Cope announced the release of the 122 page document for public review. Director Cope said the report gave the city, county and economic development department insight on not only how what they have done the past three years, but also 12 pointers on things to consider putting in to workplans in the future.

The 13 page report and several pages of documentation can be downloaded here. The five-year TCEDA Work Plan that is updated annually describes the priorities for economic development and the report are available on the TCEDA website: tceda.net. The assessment, study, and report were funded by the Irving J. Symons foundation for Tuolumne County, part of an endowment from the Sonora Area Foundation.

The Tuolumne County Economic Development Authority (TCEDA) was formed as part of CALED’s first 2008 economic development assessment. In January a team of four economic developers from CALED returned to evaluate the progress that has been made on goals set in 2008. They interviewed elected officials, business owners and residents, and compiled information that was summarized in a public meeting which was covered in our news story “Glowing Economic Development Report For Tuolumne“.

As outlined in the joint partnership agreement between the County of Tuolumne and City of Sonora, TCEDA’s mission is to implement the Economic Elements from both county and city General Plans.

This weekend’s Mother Lode Views pannel will discuss the progress, goals and future plans for economic development. The guests will include Economic Development Authority (EDA) Director Larry Cope, EDA Board Chair Hank Russell, County Administrator Craig Pedro, California Association for Local Economic Development (CALED) representative Bill Davis, Sonora City Administrator Tim Miller, and Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors Chairman Dick Pland.
