Sonora, CA — While large fires burn in Mariposa and Madera Counties, there were a few small fires over the weekend in Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties.

A three acre fire started Saturday at 11:56am along Highway 108 near the Keystone Ranch area. CAL Fire reports that the blaze originated from a boat trailer wheel bearing. The fire also caused $500 damage to the trailer.

There was a ¼ acre vegetation fire Sunday at 11:21am that was quickly contained in the 20800 block of Willow Springs Drive. CAL Fire lists the cause as “equipment use.” CAL Fire units responded from Twain Harte and Standard, and local units were on scene from Tuolumne County Fire and Twain Harte Fire.

There was a 20×20 ft. vegetation fire in Calaveras County at 12:23pm Sunday near the Sugarloaf Campground in Burson. A CAL Fire engine responded from Valley Springs, as well as an engine from the East Bay Municipal Utilities District. Officials found that it was caused by “juveniles playing with fire.”
