Popular Blood Draw

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — The 35th annual Tuolumne County Health Fair opened today and runs through tomorrow at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds. Tuolumne County Nurse RN Kathy Amos says there are over 60 booths with all kinds of health information. This year it costs $25 for a blood test; a big draw of the fair with 1,563 that registered for the blood chemistry alone.

“The lines were non-existent. Most people were able to walk in and walk right out. It was in and out. It was wonderful,” says Amos.

Free screenings are expected to include hearing, vision/glaucoma, oral screening, chiropractic screening, bone density, body fat analysis, blood pressure, lung function testing and anemia testing.

The public can also get the seasonal flu shot. Medicare will be billed for those who are covered. A good will donation is requested for those not covered under Medicare. The H1N1 vaccine is available and part of the flu shot.

The fair runs for a second day tomorrow from 7 am to 3 pm. There is also an early bird blood draw for people who need to be at work early in the morning.
