Pinecrest, CA — Only 33 firefighters remain assigned to the Power Fire in the Stanislaus National Forest.

The fire started on August 5th, and by August 9th the number of firefighters on scene peaked at 579. The fire is still listed as 97% contained and 1,070 acres. Power Fire spokesperson Bob Poole says that while mop-up operations continue, today’s efforts are primarily focused on demobilizing firefighters and equipment. Some of the crews are being reassigned to new incidents in the state, while others are returning to their home base.

There is no longer a significant threat to the 100 residences in the Bumblebee, Leland Creek and Cow Creek Subdivisions. Some of the Forest Roads immediately near the Power Fire will remain closed until it is completely extinguished. The fire is located four miles northwest of Pinecrest.
