S.F. Man Charged With Hate Crime

A San Francisco man has plead innocent to charges he poured a blood-like substance in front of a center
that caters to the Islamic community.

A receptionist at Masgid received a phone call the day after the terrorist attacks. A man said there was “a
package for Bin Laden in front of the building.´´

A bag of red liquid in front of the center was labeled “pig´s blood.´´ The liquid also was poured in
front of, and on, the center´s door.

Police spokesman Dewayne Tully says the police haven´t confirmed whether it was actually
blood.

Michael James of San Francisco was arrested yesterday near the scene.

He´s charged with defacing property and interfering with
another´s exercise of civil rights, a hate crime. He´s also charged with terrorizing.
