Columbia Man To Be Arraigned Tomorrow On Attempted Murder And Other Charges

Sponsored by:

It looks like a man shot by Tuolumne County deputies in a weekend incident while using a phony name will
be arraigned tomorrow in Superior Court. Officers say the drunk driving suspect identified himself as Danny Lee Rogers, but is actually Steven Kent Baker of
Italian Bar Road in Columbia.

Sheriff´s Lt. John Steely says deputies fired shots at Baker after he confronted them with a deadly weapon in a driveway
off Yankee Hill road. He had led Sonora Police, then Sheriff´s deputies on a chase shortly after midnight, that took them from Sonora to
Columbia.

Baker was treated for two gunshot wounds and jailed for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer. He´s also
charged with providing false identification.
