Crime Jumped In First Six Months Of 2002

Crime in California´s largest cities and counties rose 7.5 percent in the first six months of this year, and violent crime was up 3.3 percent.

All six of the major crimes that go into the rankings showed increases: homicide up 16 percent, robbery up nine percent, rape up 4 percent, assualt, up zero-point-three percent, burglary up seven percent and car theft up 13 percent.

Tuolumne and Calaveras county figures were not included in the report released by the attorney general´s office Thursday and will come out later this year.
