Bus Stop Approved; Buses Roll Dec. 2

Sponsored by:

The final roadblock has been cleared, and Greyhound buses are coming back to Sonora.

“Buses are set to roll Monday, December 2,” said Carlos Ramirez, Greyhounds´ area sales manager. “First bus departs at 8 a.m., and I’ll be here.”

On Wednesday, the Sonora Parking and Traffic Commission voted to approve a bus stop on Stockton Street next to the Sonora Day’s Inn.

Ramirez credited the work of public transportation commission chairwoman Hope Hill and the cooperation of city officials and the public for bringing the buses back.

“I’ve never seen such support,” he said.

Phone lines are being installed today and agents trained. Passengers will be able to buy tickets at the front desk of the Sonora Days Inn.
