Kayaker Serious After Speedboat Collision

A kayaker from the San Francisco Bay area is in serious condition Monday after a collision with a ski boat at Lake Tahoe.
El Dorado County sheriff´s deputies said the collision occurred shortly after noon yesterday at the entrance to Emerald Bay on Tahoe´s west shore.
The kayaker, 50-year-old Steve Fletcher of Santa Cruz, was flown to Washoe Medical Center in Reno, where he underwent surgery for severe leg and foot injuries. Hospital spokeswoman Judy Davis says Fletcher is in serious condition on Monday.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is under way and the sheriff´s office says no further information will be released until it is complete.
