Satelitte Launch Postponed

Sponsored by:

Launch of a rocket carrying five Iridium communications satellites was delayed today, due to a problem with a Navy plane that was to collect data from the rocket. The Navy aircraft had a mechanical problem and was unable to take off before the scheduled launch today at Vandenberg Air Force Base. Boeing officials say launch of the rocket with the communications satellites had to be delayed for the second straight day, and is now scheduled for 9:49 am Sunday.

Strong winds in Southern California could cause another postponement tomorrow. Yesterday a sudden gust of wind forced engineers to call off launch of the Delta-Two rocket just 55 seconds before it was set to blast off.
