Major Fires Burn In Northern California

Sponsored by:

Residents forced from their homes by an eleven hundred-acre wildfire were allowed to return home, but firefighters still have not gained an upper hand over the Northern California blaze. The Yuba County fire started after high winds knocked power lines into a tree. Winds were pushing the so-called Field Fire southeast in the direction of Mooney Flat Road when the evacuation of about 150 homes was ordered. That´s about 60 miles northeast of Sacramento. The fire was 30 percent contained last night, but unpredictable winds made conditions difficult to access.

Meanwhile, the Skyway Fire in Butte County is 100 percent contained, after 30 mile-per-hour winds drove it to scorch two thousand acres. It was located about five miles east of Chico.
