A convicted child molester in Oroville has been surgically castrated and now wants a local jury to set him free.
Bruce Clotfelder is in a state hospital under California´s “violent sexual predator” law after being arrested for posing as a Navy pilot at Roseville elementary schools.
The 40-year-old former church youth counselor had spent about 10 years in prison for molesting young boys in his care in the 1980s.
He was surgically castrated after his most recent arrest and now says the operation reduces the “likelihood” of him molesting children again.
A hearing is set for late August to determine if Clotfelter´s circumstances have changed enough to warrant a trial.
