Court To Hear Worker’s Insurance Case

Sponsored by:

A California appeals court has agreed to hear a case involving a state law requiring most employers to help pay for their workers´ health insurance.

A San Francisco-based court will decide on January 15th whether voters will be allowed to vote on a ballot measure to approve or override the law. The California Chamber of Commerce has gathered enough voter signatures to put the insurance measure on a ballot. But a Sacramento judge invalidated the petitions because they did not fully inform voters about what they were signing.

The San Francisco court did not comment on the case today. But it ordered the printing of ballots for the March presidential primary to begin later this week without the insurance measure.
