Families Still Need “Adoption” During Holiday

Sponsored by:

The area homeless shelter is looking for a few more folks to adopt needy Tuolumne County families this Christmas,

Steven Smith is a volunteer for local Amador-Tuolumne County Action Agency organization and is heading their Adopt a Family Christmas program this year.

“Everybody´s really helped and done their part,” he said. “The whole community has come in on this thing.”

Local groups like the area hospitals and Sonora and Summerville high schools have provided toys and clothes already. The Top Hatters Motorcycle Club of Sonora adopted nearly a dozen families just this week. “That was really marvelous,” Smith expressed. “Now we´re down to where we´re almost done. That feels great!”

Last year there were 120 families to be adopted, this year 115. But he says, there´s still a few more families to be adopted this Christmas.

This is the tenth year for the Christmas adoption program. Families call in from Jamestown, Tuolumne City, Columbia Twain Harte, all over the county, Next week is the deadline. Contact ATTCA for more information.
